چکیده

Isoelectric focusing in thin-layer polyacrylamide gel has been applied to studies of urinary proteins. We could differentiate the following patterns: tubular, glomerular with high and low selectivity, as well as mixed glomerular and tubular patterns, as seen in some cases of chronic pyelonephritis and uremia. The typical tubular-protein patterns-i.e., as developed in association with cadmium exposure-were characterizedby elevatedexcretion.ff2-microgIobulin. Possibly the severity of renal malfunction can be assessed by the isoelectric focusing technique. To identify the protein zones, we in some cases complemented isoelectric focusing with electrophoresis at right angles in acrylamide gel and also in agarose gel containing antibodies to provide additional information. Additional Keyphrases: diagnostic acid #{149}f32-microglobulin #{149}environmental hazards #{149}renal disease, tubular and glomerular

بررسی ترکیبات گلیکوزیله نهایی آلبومین سرم (AGE) در افراد دیابتی به روش ایزوالکتریک فوکوسینگ (IEF) و فلورسانس جهت ارزیابی پیشرفت بیماری دیابت

Background: The non-enzymatic glycosylation (NEG) of proteins in diabetes damages both the structure and function of these proteins. In vivo and in vitro studies have shown that NEG of proteins and advanced glycosylation end-products (AGE) contribute to the pathogenesis of both macrovascular, such as atherosclerosis, and microvascular complications, such as retinopathy and nephropathy, in diabe...

The association between urinary kidney injury molecule 1 and urinary cadmium in elderly during long-term, low-dose cadmium exposure: a pilot study

BACKGROUND Urinary kidney injury molecule 1 is a recently discovered early biomarker for renal damage that has been proven to be correlated to urinary cadmium in rats. However, so far the association between urinary cadmium and kidney injury molecule 1 in humans after long-term, low-dose cadmium exposure has not been studied. METHODS We collected urine and blood samples from 153 non-smoking m...

Bone Resorption and Environmental Exposure to Cadmium in Women: A Population Study

BACKGROUND Environmental exposure to cadmium decreases bone density indirectly through hypercalciuria resulting from renal tubular dysfunction. OBJECTIVE We sought evidence for a direct osteotoxic effect of cadmium in women. METHODS We randomly recruited 294 women (mean age, 49.2 years) from a Flemish population with environmental cadmium exposure. We measured 24-hr urinary cadmium and bloo...

Characterization of cadmium proteinuria in man and rat.

In workers chronically exposed to cadmium and without signs of renal insufficiency, plasma proteins with molecular weight ranging from 11,800 to 450,000 are excreted in greater amount in urine. Increased urinary excretion of low and high molecular weight proteins can occur independently. Because of its greater stability in urine and provided a sensitive immunological technique is used, the dete...

Follow up of workers previously exposed to silver solder containing cadmium.

OBJECTIVES To study longitudinal biological monitoring data on urinary and blood cadmium collected in a small cohort of nine workers who had been brazing for several years with solders containing cadmium. METHODS Cadmium was measured by neutron activation analysis in livers and kidneys, and estimates of renal function were carried out in 1983 and 1995. During the intervening period exposure t...
